The FlexPod team just returned from Cisco Live Europe in Barcelona. This show was another great opportunity to meet face to face with our customers around the world and demonstrate how the FlexPod® platform continues to grow. According to IDC*, FlexPod grew faster than the entire converged systems market each of the past four quarters. Our specific focus in the booth was on bringing attention to the benefits that customers are getting such as high efficiencies from their data center, accelerating their data center workloads, and simplifying and automating their deployments. As always, we brought our photogenic racks of data center equipment. Finally, we provided presentations and sessions about topics including artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning, 3D visualization, DevOps, and lifecycle management on the FlexPod platform.
From its beginning, FlexPod has changed the way our customers deploy data center infrastructure by reducing risk and accelerating deployments with prevalidated solutions. FlexPod builds on these solutions by delivering proven performance, agility, and value to help our customers get the most from their data center storage. The FlexPod team provided more detail by showing how FlexPod solutions can meet goals by accelerating enterprise workloads, simplifying and automating operations, and driving data center efficiencies. Our All Flash FAS (AFF) solutions accelerate workloads with offerings that can deliver up to 7 million submillisecond IOPS. Our NetApp® SolidFire® storage complements this capability with a scalable model that delivers predictable performance for multitenant storage. We simplify and automate with validation for a broad set of workloads and tools, including Cisco CloudCenter, Apprenda, and Docker containers. We help customers gain data center efficiencies through options including independent scale-out and scale-up of compute and storage components and a unified system that can help consolidate data center silos.
Our recent designs highlight these benefits. You might have already seen our recent design FlexPod Datacenter with Microsoft Windows Hyper-V Server 2016 and Cisco ACI 3.0. This FlexPod solution can accelerate workload performance with the enterprise-class Cisco UCS B200 M5 Blade Server and powerful, unified AFF storage arrays. Complete with 40 Gigabit Ethernet switching, this Cisco ACI 3.0 solution brings the latest in FlexPod performance and automation to a trusted deployment for Microsoft virtualization.
Another recent design shows the efficiency of our high-performance FlexPod Datacenter with VMware Horizon View 7.3 and VMware vSphere 6.5 Update 1 with Cisco UCS Manager 3.2 for 5000 Seats. This design is a highly scalable solution for virtual desktop deployments. Due to the increased compute power in the Cisco UCS B200 M5 servers, this design was supported with 16% fewer servers compared to previous generation B200 M4s. NetApp AFF unified storage enabled virtual desktop SAN and NAS functionality on a single storage system, consolidating the solution footprint.
We also presented sessions showing how FlexPod technology can enable IT teams with solutions including AI, 3D visualization, OpenStack, containers, Cisco CloudCenter for DevOps, and lifecycle management with NetApp Converged Systems Advisor. The diverse environments shown in these sessions demonstrate the agility of the FlexPod platform to address leading challenges in modern data centers.
