The ANZ Partner Awards are held at the stunning Quay Restaurant, right on the Sydney harbourside

Last night, NetApp ANZ held its third annual Partner Awards in Sydney, Australia, and had the opportunity to recognise twelve top performing individuals and businesses that have contributed to the exceptional operation of the NetApp channel.


Each one of our nominees have work alongside our teams daily to nurture NetApp customers across Australia and New Zealand and help them achieve their business outcomes. This year we recognised seven partners that have delivered cloud services, demonstrated excellence in service delivery and enabled customers to realise cost efficiencies and productivity through best practice, and five individuals who have demonstrated excellence with a number of awards dedicated to individual performance including Sales Excellence and Technology Excellence.


This year, we also introduced a brand-new award category at the individual level – Data Visionary of the Year. As coined by NetApp, the Data Visionary demonstrates outstanding thought leadership, solution design, evangelism of the data fabric, and has genuinely driven a new and innovative initiative around the use of data. This year Daniel Peluso, cloud product manager from Telstra, has been named the 2017 NetApp Data Visionary of the Year. I’m particularly impressed with Daniel’s drive to introduce Telstra Virtual Storage to the market so Telstra’s customers can realise the true benefits of the data fabric too. Congratulations Daniel!

2017 was certainly a great year for our partners, but it was also a milestone year for NetApp as a company, as we celebrated opening up our doors 25 years ago! Also in many ways, 2017 was a ‘tipping point’ for NetApp’s vision. Our employees, partners and customer really started to embrace the power of data and we’re excited to see what happens next year, especially as customers and partners build on these foundations, and use NetApp technology to take their businesses to the next level.


But what will 2018 mean for data? NetApp’s SVP and CTO, Dr. Mark Bregman, unveiled his 2018 CTO Predictions during NetApp Insight earlier this year, and while there is certainly a lot of excitement around the pace of technology innovation, it can be unnerving too for many of our customers. Just how do you embrace, adopt, and get ahead? Where do you start?


This is why last night’s Partner Awards night is such a special occasion to recognise the hard work and commitment that our partner community demonstrates. Being trusted advisors and helping customers put data at the centre of their organisation is paramount to any business in this digital era.

Glenn McPherson

Glenn McPherson is the Managing Director at NetApp Australia and New Zealand. In this role he is responsible for defining the strategy and direction of NetApp’s local business, with senior management in both Australia and New Zealand reporting to him.

He is instrumental in driving sustained growth of the business by ensuring NetApp continues to deliver innovative and customised solutions that enable flexible, scalable and reliable data infrastructures.

Glenn joined NetApp in 2012 as Regional Sales Manager, NSW, VIC, Telstra and Service Providers. In this role he focused on driving the growth of NetApp’s business by supporting his team in responding to the needs of customers in his region; while also working to evolve NetApp’s partnerships with value-added resellers, alliance partners and service providers.

Prior to joining NetApp, Glenn worked as a regional sales manager at Cisco, where he was responsible for leading the team providing Cisco solutions to Government & Education accounts across Australia. Before this, he worked as an account director for Genesys, where he worked with service providers across the Asia Pacific region.

As a father of four, Glenn is kept busy supporting his kids’ latest sporting and educational pursuits. In his spare time, he barracks for North Melbourne Football Club, and enjoys swimming, cycling and going to the gym. He also has a green thumb, and loves to spend his weekends in the garden.
