As you may have seen, we’ve been hard at work over the last few months, strengthening our partnerships and introducing new cloud data services and tools to simplify customer adoption of hybrid cloud and accelerate digital transformation.
Today, at AWS re:Invent, we’re announcing new integrations within Amazon Web Services (AWS), support for VMware Cloud™ on AWS, as well as, introducing our new NetApp Cloud Data Services Portal.
NetApp Cloud Volumes for AWS
IDC forecasts that by 2025 the global “datasphere” will grow to 163 zettabytes (that’s one trillion gigabytes). This explosive data growth makes efficient data management critical to optimizing operations and exceeding customer expectations. NetApp Cloud Volumes for AWS is a new cloud data service for AWS customers based on NetApp’s proven ONTAP software. It will deliver enterprise-grade data visibility and insights, data access and control, and data protection and security.
NetApp is committed to connecting companies to more clouds in more ways to achieve their transformation goals. For many of our customers AWS is a key element of their hybrid cloud strategies. Over the course of a few years, we’ve worked closely with AWS to deliver innovative hybrid cloud data services for customers that want to leverage public cloud resources for data protection, analytics, and new applications. This extension of the longstanding collaboration between NetApp and AWS will help customers get the most from their data while knowing it is optimized and secure.
This new service, available in the Amazon Marketplace, offers high levels of performance and availability to speed enterprise applications including analytics, DevOps, backup and disaster recovery. NetApp Cloud Volumes for AWS enables both NFSv3 and NFSv4 with fully featured snapshots and is available in cloud-only and hybrid cloud deployments, with integration into on-premises systems and seamless data migration and synchronization between on-premises and cloud.
Public preview of NetApp Cloud Volumes for AWS will be available in early 2018. Register forNetApp Cloud Volumes for AWS preview program here.
ONTAP Cloud Support for VMware Cloud on AWS
We are committed to enabling customers to consistently manage their data across cloud and data center application ecosystems. As a result, we’re announcing support for VMware Cloud on AWS, to allow customers more flexibility when deploying ONTAP Cloud. VMware Cloud on AWS delivers a seamlessly integrated hybrid cloud that extends on-premises vSphere environments to a VMware SDDC running on AWS elastic bare-metal infrastructure. Now, by expanding ONTAP Cloud data services to VMware Cloud on AWS, companies can manage and serve their VMware application data in the same way whether in the cloud or on-premises.
“VMware Cloud on AWS provides customers a seamlessly integrated hybrid cloud offering that gives customers the SDDC experience from the leader in private cloud, running on the leading public cloud provider, AWS,” said Mark Lohmeyer, vice president, Cloud Platform Business Unit, VMware. “NetApp ONTAP Cloud software enables IT teams to increase efficiency and create operational consistency across cloud environments. We’re excited to work with NetApp to enhance native VMware Cloud on AWS capabilities and empower customers with flexibility and choice in solutions that drive business value.”

NetApp Cloud Data Services Portal
As customers move workloads into the cloud, it becomes increasingly complex to manage a large number of services across cloud environments and logical locations. The new NetApp Cloud Data Services Portal enables customers to automatically discover and manage NetApp data services across clouds from a single dashboard. This complementary offering is available to NetApp customers today.

NetApp Joins the AWS Channel Opportunity Registration Program
NetApp is also now part of the AWS Channel Opportunity Registration (COR) Program that enables channel relationships, deal protection, incentives, and visibility into opportunities on the AWS Marketplace platform.
